Weight Loss Pills For Menopause
hysterectomy at 28? Menopause?Too young? problems?Anyone?
My left ovary and tube have been removed; My other tube is tied…My periods are so heavy that I need to use 2 tampons at once AND a light pad…blood loss is so bad that I get weak…My general practicioner says that if my hubby and I don’t want any more children that I should have my uterus taken out and be put into surgical menopause…What does this mean for me at 28? Will I gain lots of weight and then have hot flashes, etc.? Has anyone had good or bad experiences? What do you recommend? Is it painful? I am on Seasonale right now and really don’t care to be tied down to a pill EVERY day, and this would give us more freedom to not have any surprise periods….Please…I need some insight!!!!Thanks soooo much!!!!

If the doctor leaves your one ovary intact, no you will not experience menopause. However, if the ovary is taken out as well, you will experience surgically induced menopause to some degree. Everyone is different. Some people need hormone replacement therapy, some do not. There isn’t really anyway to determine how much of an effect it will have on you. I’ve had two aunts go through surgical menopause: one never even noticed the change, the other thought she was “going to die”, ie, hot flashes, mood swings, etc.
As for being painful, I assume you mean the surgery itself. Yes, there is pain involved. There are different surgical techniques used, but they all will include some pain. You’ll be given IV pain medication while in the hospital, then switched to an oral form. You’ll probably go home with a prescription for pain medication. There is a wealth of info here: http://women.webmd.com/tc/Hysterectomy-Topic-Overview
I would think it over carefully. If you are 110% positive you will never, ever, never, ever, NEVER want anymore kids, and you can resolve yourself to the fact that there is no way you will ever be able to have another child, then go for it. I say carefully because 28 is young. Best of luck.
